Addressing Intolerance and other challenges to the security of Minority Communities: Building Communities of trust and improving community relations in (post) crisis situations
The post-COVID-19 pandemic situation has added new layers of complexity to addressing intolerance and discrimination. The pandemic has led to the tragic loss of life and made a deep impact on economic security. Unfortunately, it has also led to violations of human rights: incidents of racist scapegoating in some countries, and the increase of domestic violence, further complicating the task of addressing intolerance and discrimination. ODIHR, in cooperation with the Miller Center, will host a panel discussion with representatives from civil society, academia and law enforcement to discuss cooperation and co-ordination between government and law enforcement agencies with civil society and minority communities and to explore good practice around building communities of trust.
Panel Members Include Residents From:
- The Violence Reduction Network community leadership training program (UK)
- Umeä University, Police Education Unit. (Sweden)
- The Global Consortium for Law Enforcement Training Executives (USA)
- Staffordshire University Institute for Policing (UK)
