Jim Nestor

Senior Policy Advisor, Policing Initiatives

As a Senior Policy for Policing Initiatives, Jim Nestor provides consultation and peer advocacy training and development for behavioral health and law enforcement wellness. For the past ten years Jim directed and developed two specialty trauma-centered and evidence-based treatment programs for First Responders at Livengrin Foundation in Bensalem, PA, and at Caron Treatment Center, Wernersville, PA.

Prior to that Jim was the Director for the State of New Jersey’s Department of Law & Public Safety – Office of Employee & Organization Development, a position held for 23 years. In a Senior Executive Service appointment, he led the Employee and Management Assistance Services for the 9,500 employees/families within the Office of the Attorney General and the New Jersey State Police. Management and Organization Development, Peer Advocate Services, and Critical Incident Stress Management practices were integrated into the daily operational strategies. His office oversaw a Statewide Disaster Response Support Program that maintains emergency management coordination of all first responder mental health support during state and national disasters.

Jim also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia in Organization Development, and as an Adjunct for leadership at Holy Family University Graduate School of Criminal Justice.

He has also developed and provided training for 30,000 first responders in substance abuse prevention for the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency throughout the Mid-Atlantic region (2014-2019). Jim was recently recognized with the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey’s Humanitarian Award, and the 2019 International Employee Assistance Professional Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
